After breakfast the morning after our overnight stay in Zagreb we set our for Starigrad on the Adriatic coast. We changed our plans
and decided that we did not want to drive another 450 kilometres to reach Sarajevo.
In Dalmatia we left motorway A1 via exit Gospić and via the more attractive tourist road D65 across Velebit mountains we reached the town Karlobag on the Adriatic coast, where we had
lunch. After a short walk along the sea we continued our journey and soon we reached Starigrad. We immediately went to the entrance of
Paklenica national park for some information, about opening hours and fees. Then we searched a room for our overnight stay for the next two days, which was
quite easy, because there were a lot signed along the road. After having passed the Ina petrol station we turned right and parked our
car next to a house. The very friendly owner, Petar Šikić soon noticed us and knew what we were looking for. We agreed a cheap price Soon after we took our properties to the apartment
we were invited to a drink with the family. We talked about many things, sometimes in English, sometimes in German.
We had dinner in restaurant Lucija, which was recommended by the family Šikić.
The next day after a rainy night we decided to visit Paklenica national park anyway, because it looked as if the sun was going be with us soon. It was true. We had set for the mountain hut, indicated as planinarski dom, on an altitude of 500 meters. After some hours of walking, in the beginning between the high rocky walls of the gorge, we reached it and enjoyed a beer and also bought some cans of refreshing fanta.
