Sledding and skiing in German low mountain range Sauerland

On Saturday January 31 2009 we made a day trip to town Winterberg in German mountain range Sauerland, which is well known for its winter sport facilities. We were quite surprised: plenty of snow and a slope in a good condition: It was clear that today the webmaster could not be kept off the slope and so he went to hire skis and boots and buy himself a 5 time lift ticket. It was really great to have the opportunity of skiing after eight years, beside the indoor skiing day in the Bottrop Alpine Center. Jennifer too had the time of her life on the sledding slope next to the skiing slope Sahnehang, both located on foot of the well known Sauerland summit Kahle Asten. After the snow fun we got hungry and had a delicious meal in restaurant Leisse in Winterberg.

Swimming raises your appetite and makes you thirsty

Meanwhile it has become a tradition that the webmaster and his friend Patrick spend a day together playing soccer

It was May 23rd 2009 and we took the train to the Hague where Patrick, Carola and the kids picked us up at the central station. On Sunday the men were going to play on a soccer tournament in Rijswijk, so why not take the train a day earlier and enjoy the beautiful weather on Kijkduin beach on the Dutch North Sea coast in the Hague . That was exactly were Patrick was going to take us in his van, after picking us up at the Hague central station. Discount drug store chain Kruidvat in the Netherlands every now and then offers day travel passes for use in Dutch national railway trains. The discount sometimes is beyond 50%. So that weekend we used public transport and our day passes for travelling.
It was a lovely sunny afternoon, The Westmalle beers tasted very good. The webmaster and Jennifer broke a world record throwing frisbee at each other and catching it all the time. In the evening we were also invited to a barbecue. Just click the link about the beautiful day on Kijkduin beach.
